Insider Talk: Aluminum ‌Foils Are ‌Being Replaced

In the tight competition among packaging industries (as consumers of aluminum foil), the rule is survival of the fittest. Negative competition among these industries has led to the discontinuation of some products and shutdown of their respective factories. “The high price of aluminum foil is leading to its replacement by metalized films,” said Rasta Tavassoli, CEO of Chap Talaye Urmia, the first Iranian producer of packaging foil that holds the whole market. The holding is the parent company of Afra Polymer Coating and Film Talaye Azerbaijan. It supplies raw materials to domestic rivals as well as neighbor countries. In this Insider Talk, we have focused on the market of aluminum foils in Iran.

Cables Market Hurt by Construction Decline

Cables Market Hurt by Construction Decline

Demand for power cables (in both general applications and infrastructure) has grown owing to the electrification of industries, population growth, and technological advances. Raw materials required for the production of wires and cables (made up of 95% copper and petrochemical materials) are readily available in Iran; the wires and cables industry has had significant development. Other than some special-purpose wires and cables (which are not economically feasible to produce due to limited demand), all demand is met through domestic production. But the industry is dealing with issues that might jeopardize its future. Our guest in this Insider Talk is Mohammad AfsharNejad, CEO of Khorasan Electric Industrial Company.
